What is Coronavirus (Covid-19)?
Novel Coronavirus is a new strain of coronavirus' which cause illnesses in human beings (and animals). In humans, most coronaviruses have been found to cause respiratory infections like the common cold to even more severe diseases. The Patient 0 was identified in Wuhan city, Hubei province of China.
What are the various symptoms of Covid-19? 1) Fever 2) Feeling tired or exhausted 3) Dry cough Other symptoms may include aches and pains, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat or diarrhea. These symptoms are usually mild and begin gradually. Note: Not everybody with a cold or upper respiratory symptom needs to get tested for Coronavirus. Furthermore, around 80% of infected people recover from the disease without needing special treatment.
What are the treatments for Covid-19? The treatment of Covid-19 depends on enhancing the immunity level of patients, treating the symptoms and easing complications. There is no definitive treatment for the virus as of today.
How to prevent getting the Coronavirus?
- Regularly washing your hands for up to 20 seconds with soap and water or using alcohol-based hand rub kills viruses on surfaces.
- Social distancing - which means staying at least 2 metres away from anyone in public places.
- Covering mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze. Then dispose of the used tissue immediately.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth until you have washed your hands for 20 seconds.
- Avoid handshakes.
- Avoid nose-to-nose greeting, hugging or kissing others.
- Take enough rest and take a large amount of fluids.
